Focal Grande Utopia Em Evo

GRANDE UTOPIA EM EVO 4-way floorstanding speaker Excellence from excellence. With its outstanding technological heritage and unique style, Grande Utopia is an exceptional high-fidelity loudspeaker. It is Focal's most accomplished concept and one of the best loudspeakers in the world. At 2 metres high, it delivers sound of unrivalled finesse and precision.                   UTOPIA, AN ICON FAR AHEAD OF THE REST   A TECHNOLOGICAL MONUMENT Grande Utopia's ultimate hi-fi sound is the result of the best Focal innovations it combines: "W" diaphragms, pure beryllium tweeter, electromagnet (EM) woofer, TMD suspension, NIC motor, MRR cabinet... it's a concentrate of patented technologies at the service of sound.             AN ACOUSTIC SCULPTURE Each loudspeaker is housed in a separate cabinet. These cabinets form the spectacular backbone of the loudspeaker, and can be tilted by the action of a leather-wrapped crank. This adjustable "Focus Time" function ensures the perfect sound image, depending on room configuration and listening position.   4 DEFINED SECTIONS From top to bottom, Grande Utopia features a 27 cm low-midrange, two 16.5 cm mid-ranges, a tweeter and a 40 cm electromagnet woofer.                 REFINED FINISHES Grande Utopia stands out for its contemporary styling and distinctive silhouette. Metallic colors inspired by the automotive world and timeless wood finishes complete the look of these loudspeakers. THE BEST COMPONENTS Perfection is born of detail. Every component has been carefully selected. Large cross-section cables ensure transparency and naturalness. The acoustic wadding lining the interior of the subwoofer is dense, for controlled, precise bass. The rigidity of the cabinet, enhanced by machined aluminum rings around the loudspeakers, reinforces the overall coherence of the acoustics.   TECHNOLOGIES "W" MEMBRANE Perfectly defined midrange and bass By developing and manufacturing its own membranes, Focal pushes the limits of innovation in acoustics. The sandwich "W" membrane of the loudspeakers plays an essential role in sound reproduction. It consists of two sheets of glass placed on either side of a central foam body; a sandwich construction that enables us to master the three key parameters of a good loudspeaker: lightness, rigidity and damping. This flagship membrane of Focal know-how perfectly optimizes the frequency response curve, providing low distortion and total listening transparency. Sound is the ultimate in precision.     TMD SUSPENSION Stabilized surround, eliminates vibrations While our engineers are experts in the development of exclusive diaphragms, they also innovate in all the components that make up the loudspeakers, such as the surround that connects the diaphragm to the frame, the performance of which must be mastered. Introduced in 2015, Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology with harmonic damping consists of the addition of finely positioned toroidal weights to stabilize the surround for even greater sonic neutrality. This technology enhances the midrange and the erratic behavior of the surround between 1 kHz and 2 kHz.     BÉRYLLIUM TWEETER For exceptional treble Membrane shape and materials are essential for high-fidelity reproduction. For exceptional treble, our engineers have developed the Béryllium inverted dome tweeter in pure Beryllium. Thanks to its unrivalled rigidity, Beryllium is the material of choice for high-frequency loudspeakers. Developed and patented by Focal, the pure Beryllium inverted dome is capable of covering more than five octaves (1,000 - 40,000 Hz) for perfect perception of micro-details.         WOOFER EM The electromagnetic motor loudspeaker To the delight of audiophiles, Stella Utopia EM incorporates a 33 cm "W" woofer with the same magnet motor as the Grande Utopia EM, effective in both bass and low-midrange. The principle: the permanent magnet is replaced by an electromagnet. As a result, the motor's power can become inexhaustible, or adjustable. Focal engineers used a technology capable of achieving extreme performance: the electromagnet. Its power supply is external and features a signal recognition system. The supply voltage can be adjusted in different steps, allowing you to choose from a whole range of bass sounds, or program a bass sound à la carte.         OPC+ FILTER Personalize the exceptional The notion of fine-tuning the sound, without altering the integrity of the signal, was integrated right from the start of the Utopia line project. The Stella loudspeaker offers a wide variety of settings, in all registers, for a total of 243 possible combinations. OPC+ filtering offers the ability to adapt the loudspeaker's response curve to the room's acoustics, customizing the tonal balance according to the reverberation time linked to the size of the room.room size, the nature of light or matt surfaces, furnishings, or simply individual sound preferences. Extremely sophisticated, this crossover uses only the highest-quality components determined by meticulous comparative listening.     POWER FLOWER More energy and optimized ventilation The performance of a loudspeaker is directly related to the magnetic energy transmitted by the magnet. To develop high-performance woofers, our engineers created the multi-ferrite magnet, or Power Flower™ technology, which brings together several stacked ferrite rings distributed around the central core. This technology combines very high magnetic energy transmission, for tenfold power handling, with optimal cooling of the loudspeaker: the spacing between the blocks allows free circulation of hot air, ensuring unrivalled ventilation of the coil. As it heats up less, it no longer represents a limitation on power, even after prolonged listening at high sound levels. Another advantage is that the coil is decompressed because it is totally open-back to the outside: distortion, linked to mechanical compression phenomena, is considerably reduced. This technology has been an exclusive Focal signature for many years.     GAMMA STRUCTURE An anti-vibration cabinet As the surface area of a loudspeaker cabinet is greater than that of the loudspeaker diaphragms, it can radiate sounds that are distorted by the resonances of the cabinet structure. This alters reproduction and blurs the sound image. To prevent such "interference", it is essential that the cabinet is as inert as possible, that it is not emissive. At Focal, we use MDF (Medium Density Fiber) to achieve this inertia. This stable, heavy structure is anti-vibration. It has been optimized by vibratory mapping of the loudspeaker walls to reinforce or modify the structure wherever a weak point appeared.           NIC TECHNOLOGY Very high sound definition For very high-definition sound, control of the magnetic flux circulating in the loudspeaker is essential. Our acousticians have created a magnetic circuit of incredible stability, guaranteeing perfectly controlled sound: Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC) technology. This patented technology resides in a Faraday ring whose dimensions, material and positioning are optimized to make the magnetic flux stable and the sound highly precise.               REVIEW & AWARDS Diapason d’or 2022 : Enceinte FOCAL GRANDE UTOPIA EM EVO + électroniques NAIM THE STATEMENT- Read More "This is what speakers of this ambition can achieve, served by equally accomplished electronics; a form of musical truth, impactful and penetrating, at the same time as intimately linked to the whole system + local. And as the advertising slogan says: because it’s worth it…" - Vincent Cousin   Focal Grande Utopia EM Evo loudspeaker - Read More "The sheer amount of technology that's been brought to bear on these gargantuan speakers is as undeniable as their physical presence is inescapable. However, though I doubt this conclusion will matter to those with the space, budget and hankering for these speakers, I must say that they demand long and careful auditioning, and I sincerely hope their buyers find the magic in them, and love them more." - Andrew Everard   The Focal—JM Lab Utopia III ‘Grande Utopia EM’ Loudspeaker - Read More "Focal must be congratulated for not resting on its laurels. The designers have refined and developed their house sound from their already famous speakers into the new Utopia III line. Reviewing the series has been an absolute pleasure. The prices range from 30K to 180K. For investing audiophiles, the price range gives you an entrance into audio Nirvana.
