Focal 300 ICW8

300 ICW8 2-way coaxial speaker In-wall or in-ceiling, this integrated loudspeaker is ideal for hi-fi and home theater applications. Its high-performance output generates a powerful 90 dB of sound, and its perfect flush-mounted design means it's discreet. Its exclusive Focal technologies, such as the Flax membrane on the 21 cm driver and the aluminum/magnesium tweeter with adjustable inverted dome, deliver extremely well-defined hi-fi sound, perfectly adapted to the listening point and the environment.               INNOVATIONS FOCAL The exclusive Flax membrane technology uses an eco-textile based on French flax fiber. The stiffness and lightness of these cones deliver remarkably neutral, well-defined sound. The adjustable and directional tweeter, meanwhile, enables the treble to be adjusted to the room's acoustics.           DOLBY ATMOS® TECHNOLOGY In addition to stereo and surround applications, 300 ICW8 adapts perfectly to Dolby Atmos® technology, adding a vertical sound dimension. Immersive and powerful, this 3D sound is ideal for watching movies or playing video games, as if you were right in the heart of the action.   FOCAL SOUND MAKES THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE   EASY INSTALLATION Thanks to the EQI (Easy Quick Install) mounting system, no tools or screws are required, making installation quick and easy! Round or square, the grilles are magnetized and designed to be painted to blend in perfectly with any interior.       TECHNOLOGIES EQI SYSTEM Easy to install Sound quality is not enough. That's why Focal adds a valuable criterion for integration products: ease of installation. Thanks to the EQI (Easy Quick Install) system, assembly is greatly improved and facilitated, with installation time reduced to a minimum. This ingenious mechanism allows products to be installed by hand, simply and without tools.             TWEETER IN AL/MG Treble finesse Membrane shape and materials are essential. For the finest treble, our engineers have patented the inverted dome tweeter, a Focal signature. The inverted dome shape offers the advantage of low directionality and a small-diameter, lightweight coil for better acceleration. As for the materials used, they combine the key points of a good loudspeaker: aluminum increases dome rigidity and reduces distortion, while the addition of magnesium provides excellent damping. The surround that connects the dome to its support uses Poron, a shape-memory material. This surround is derived from the famous Utopia Beryllium tweeter, and reduces distortion by a factor of three between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz, where the ear is most sensitive.     FLAX MEMBRANE Purity and precision of sound As the key component of a loudspeaker, the membrane is at the heart of our acoustic engineers' research. After more than five years of research and development, in 2013 Focal unveiled an exclusive membrane made from flax. Patented, this Flax cone is a sandwich made of very high quality French flax fibre placed between two thin sheets of glass fibre. It satisfies all the criteria of a high-fidelity membrane: lightness to offer good dynamics, rigidity to hold the bass and damping to deliver a neutral, natural, uncolored sound. It is an emblematic Focal innovation in many hi-fi products.         REVIEW & AWARDS Focal 300 ICW 8 in-ceiling speaker review - Read More "These sound dynamic and engaging, are easy to install, and will match a wide range of partnering speakers. A little on the large side, but the resulting performance is worth it." - Richard Stevenson   Focal 300 Series In-Wall Speakers Review - Read More "Focal's 300 series architectural speakers sport a true tool-less installation. The clamping design makes installation a literal snap. But such a design means nothing if the speakers don't deliver the sonic goods—and rest assured that the Focals deliver in spades. If you've been boxed into an aesthetic battlefield and feared that turning to architectural speakers would mean compromising that audio experience you love, then fear not: You can indeed have reference-grade sound from an in-wall speaker. Focal's 300 series architectural speakers are worthy of Focal's legendary brand. For my part, I'll be using the 300 Series as my new reference for an in-wall and in-ceiling system. Highly recommended." - Theo Nicolakis     SPECIFICATIONS  Sound - Acoustics Product type 2-way Medium 8" (21cm) Flax Mid-bass Membrane Flax Response at - 6dB (Low frequency point) 35 Hz Frequency response (+/- 3dB) 48 Hz - 28 kHz Minimum impedance 4.5 Ω Nominal Impedance 8 Ω Recommened amplifier power 25 - 150 W Sensivity 90 dB Design Allowable ceiling thickness (min) 5 mm / 0.1875 in Allowable ceiling thickness (max) 30 mm / 0.81 in Easy Quick Install Yes Depth behind surface (Mounting depth) 4.8 in / 4.8 in Cut-Out diameter 264 mm / 10.39 in Depth 299 mm / 11.76 in Accessories Black and white felt Black and white felt ready to stick Cut Out template Yes Grids Delivered with ready-to-paint square and circular front grilles and painting protective mask
