Fluorite Clusters on Matrix

Fluorite is such an enigma of a mineral. From its cubic shape to the secrets it holds under UV light, we feel like every day we are surprised by what else it may have in store for us. One of its most striking features is its seemingly perfect cubic shape, and before anyone asks, yes, it’s completely natural. Fluorite grows this way because of its crystal structure. Its atoms are arranged in a repeating pattern that naturally forms cubic crystals—truly a marvel of the natural world. But that’s not all. These particular clusters have a red gleam under UV light. We were blown away once we got these under the light. Generally, most fluorites glow with a ghostly green or blue light, but these popped with an almost cherry red color. The fluorescence color of fluorite is determined by trace elements or impurities within the crystal. For instance, the presence of uranium or rare earth elements can result in a green or blue glow, while iron impurities can cause the fluorite to fluoresce in shades of purple or blue. Red fluorescence in fluorite is rare and typically occurs due to trace elements or impurities, known as activators. Common causes include rare earth elements like europium or manganese, which interact with the crystal lattice and cause the fluorite to glow red under ultraviolet (UV) light. These specimens have a mix of both vibrant red and otherworldly blue. As you can probably tell, we’re in love with these new specimens, and we think you’ll feel the same once you get your hands on one. According to metaphysics: Fluorite is a crystal celebrated for its clarity and ability to enhance mental focus. Known for clearing negative energy, it aids in decision-making and brings balance to the mind. This powerful stone absorbs negativity, particularly within the aura and mind, allowing thoughts and ideas to flow freely and harmoniously.
