Floatline Nightstand in Blackout Oak

Floatline Nightstand   The Floatline Nightstand is Stamford Modern's contemporary reinterpretation of mid-century elegance, inspired by the architectural case furniture of the 1950s Scandinavian modern movement. Rather than replicating a historic design, the Floatline pays tribute to an era celebrated for its balance of sculptural form, honest materials, and refined craftsmanship, reimagined through our own design philosophy and manufacturing expertise.   Its signature suspended cabinet appears to float effortlessly within a sculptural solid wood frame, creating a striking interplay of structure, proportion, and negative space. Every piece is handcrafted in our Connecticut workshop using carefully selected hardwoods and premium veneers, combining traditional furniture-making techniques with modern precision to ensure exceptional quality and longevity.   The Floatline Collection is a contemporary reinterpretation of William Hinn’s celebrated Exoskeleton Nightstands—a design that has long inspired us through its elegant structural expression. We honor the original by preserving its spirit while reimagining it through Stamford Modern’s perspective. Available in our standard collection or made to order, each piece can be customized to suit your project, with a selection of sizes, wood species including walnut and white oak, hand-applied finishes, hardware options, and interior configurations. Whether incorporated into a primary residence, hospitality project, or bespoke interior, every Floatline piece is built specifically for its owner.   By honoring the spirit of mid-century design while embracing contemporary craftsmanship and customization, the Floatline Collection carries forward the timeless principles that inspired it, creating furniture that feels both familiar and distinctly original. Handcrafted in Connecticut, serving clients in CT, NY, NJ, and nationwide.
