Hailing from the salt marshes of Guérande, France, this dazzling salt is known as the “Caviar of Salts.” Its bright white crystals are hand-harvested, making it truly special. Fleur de Sel's unique structure and characteristic soft taste come from its high mineral content, including calcium and magnesium. Chefs around the globe have a soft spot for Fleur de Sel. The delicate, flaky crystals provide a satisfying crunch and a burst of flavor that’s simply unmatched. Wet Salt vs. Dry Salt What sets Fleur de Sel apart is its wet salt texture - soft, clumpy, and slightly sticky due to traditional collection methods. Its moist and soft grain structure makes it coarser than typical salts, requiring pinching or crumbling by hand instead of flowing freely. This unique structure, coupled with its high mineral content, gives Fleur de Sel its characteristic soft taste. Recipes and Tips: Elevate your grilled or roasted meats and seafood by sprinkling a pinch of Fleur de Sel just before serving. Its wet, flaky crystals enhance the natural flavors, adding a sophisticated touch to dishes like perfectly seared steaks or succulent shrimp. Fleur de Sel contains a higher concentration of minerals, which give the grains a softer structure. Just a few grains on a piece of fish or meat, or tossed into a salad, provide a delightful 'crunchy bite.' This gastronomic sea salt lends dishes an exclusive finish in the blink of an eye. In addition to meats and seafood, Fleur de Sel can be used to enhance a variety of dishes. Its wet salt texture allows the crystals to adhere better, ensuring a burst of flavor in every bite. It pairs wonderfully with creamy cheeses, making it a great addition to charcuterie boards. For an unexpected twist on desserts, add a touch of Fleur de Sel to your caramel creations. The contrast between the sweet, creamy caramel and the crunchy salt creates a mouthwatering experience that will leave everyone craving more.
