Purchase from Fleetguard with confidence knowing our products meet or exceed OEM specifications and EPA standards. The Fleetguard - Atmus Filtration Technologies UF104 Urea Filter is a vital part of your emission control system installed on your diesel engine. All medium and heavy duty trucks manufactured on January 1, 2010, are required to meet the stricter EPA Emission Standards through the use of Diesel Exhaust Fluid as part of the engine's exhaust after-treatment system. All trucks have Diesel Exhaust Fluid tanks that are designed with a filter to keep the system clear of debris. Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an important component in keeping heavy-duty trucks and machinery operating with a mandated selective catalytic reduction in diesel engine emission guidelines. What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid or DEF? DEF or Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an ammonia-based liquid that is injected into the exhaust systems particulate filter as a catalyst to create a chemical reaction that breaks down the Nitrogen Oxide or NOx into nitrogen, water, and small amounts of CO2.  DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is a non-toxic solution of 67.5% water and 32.5% automotive grade urea and is one of the key elements of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) after-treatment system intended to reduce NOx from the exhaust. SCR systems are installed with a DEF filter to ensure it is free of contaminants. Why is a Diesel Exhaust Fluid Filter or Urea Filter so important? Cummins Filtration offers a range of DEF filters for Cummins and non-Cummins engine applications for medium and heavy duty truck applications. these SCR systems require a filter to function in order to reduce emissions. Changing the filter ensures your system is running correctly and maintains a higher efficiency for the engine. SCR systems are installed with a DEF filter to ensure it is free of contaminants. If DEF is not properly filtered, urea crystals and other contaminants gained during transport and storage can cause the SCR system to malfunction or not work properly. The benefit of using a DEF Filters: If DEF is not properly filtered, urea crystals and other contaminants gained during transport and storage can cause the SCR system to malfunction or not work properly. This Fleetguard UF106 Urea Filter is used on a wide range of trucks and diesel engines in operation today. This filter is designed for the effective removal of Urea Crystals and suspended contaminants from the Diesel Exhaust Fluid.
