How the AIO System Works 01 Air Pocket Formation During the backwash cycle, the valve draws air into the top of the filter tank, creating an air pocket above the filter media bed. 02 Oxidation on Contact As water flows down through the air pocket, dissolved iron, hydrogen sulfide, and manganese are oxidized and converted to insoluble particles. 03 Mechanical Filtration Oxidized particles are captured by the filter media bed (typically Birm, Filox, or greensand) as water passes through. 04 Timed Backwash & Air Recharge At the programmed time, the valve initiates a backwash — flushing trapped contaminants to drain and replenishing the air pocket for the next service cycle.
