Flavortop Nectarine Tree – Yellow Freestone Fruit

Flavortop Nectarine Tree: Flavorful Yellow Freestone Fruit Bring the pleasure of homegrown summer fruit to your garden with Flavortop Nectarine (Prunus persica 'Flavortop'). This variety produces large nectarines with firm, yellow flesh and a freestone pit that separates from the flesh when ripe. Known for excellent eating quality, it is a rewarding choice for gardeners with the right winter chill and room for a fruit tree. Imagine picking a ripe nectarine on a warm summer day and slicing its golden flesh for breakfast or dessert. Before harvest season, showy pink spring blossoms bring an ornamental touch to your home orchard. Why Choose Flavortop? Excellent eating quality: Firm yellow flesh makes a flavorful fresh summer treat. Freestone fruit: The pit separates readily from ripe flesh for easier preparation. Self-fruitful: A second nectarine variety is not required for pollination. Showy spring flowers: Pink blossoms add seasonal garden interest before fruit develops. Growing Zones, Chill Hours & Space USDA hardiness zones: 6–9, following Dave Wilson Nursery's cultivar rating. Winter chill: Approximately 650 chill hours. Confirm that your local climate provides sufficient winter chill; a suitable hardiness zone alone does not ensure reliable fruiting. Sunlight: Full sun. Soil: Moist, well-drained soil. Avoid persistently waterlogged planting sites. Mature size: Standard-size trees can reach approximately 15–25 feet tall and wide. Rootstock and pruning affect final size; this listing does not identify the rootstock. Harvest season: Summer. Dave Wilson Nursery reports mid-July ripening in Central California; timing varies by region and weather. Choose Your Tree Size Listed options include 3–4 ft., 5–6 ft., 6–7 ft., and 4–5 ft. (5G). Foot measurements describe the offered tree height, not mature dimensions. The 5G designation identifies a 5-gallon nursery container for that option; do not assume the other height options include the same container size. Planting & Orchard Care Choose a sunny planting location with enough room for the tree's eventual canopy. Maintain consistent soil moisture during establishment and dry weather without saturating the roots. Plan for regular pruning and fruit-tree pest and disease monitoring; nectarines are not a maintenance-free crop. Follow local extension recommendations for pruning, crop thinning, and region-specific care. Container growing: Do not assume this tree is dwarf or suitable for long-term patio growing. Confirm the rootstock and expected mature size before selecting it for a container. Harvest timing and yield depend on plant maturity, winter chill, weather, and care. Spring flowers can be affected by late frost, and fruit at delivery or in the first season is not guaranteed. Choose your preferred available size and start planning for flavorful, homegrown Flavortop nectarines.
