This larger thermal mass puts more heat into the food in less time for better sears and quicker cooking. Stainless Steel Drip Tray Every Flat Top includes a dishwasher-safe stainless steel drip tray that sits below the drain holes to collect drippings and make cleanup a snap. Uniquely Designed Front Lip The unique design of the front lip on the Steelmade Flat Top is part of the secret sauce that makes cooking on a griddle so special. What seems like a bold design choice actually creates critical airflow to keep food from getting soggy while providing easy access to the food when cooking. The front of the Flat Top features a small 5 degree break to prevent accidental spills without interfering with any of the important features of our three-sided design. Safe, Natural Non-Stick Cooking Surface The seasoning process is literally the black magic of Flat Top ownership. If you've ever owned cast iron cookware, you're probably already familiar with the term. For the uninitiated, "seasoning" refers to a natural chemical reaction where oil and fat are heated to the point where they literally bake into the steel through a process called polymerization. This transforms the raw silver steel into a gorgeous black finish with amazing non-stick properties without the use of dangerous coatings like Teflon that only gets better with time. Easy To Store Our popular Cover Boards are competition-quality cutting boards available in Maple or Walnut custom manufactured to fit securely on top of the Flat Top. This provides an attractive cover for storing when not in use and doubles as an extra large prep space when cooking! Why Steelmade? WHY STEELMADE? Our Flat Top Griddles will transform your normal kitchen stove into a restaurant-quality cooktop. There are many reasons why restaurants use flat top griddles for cooking the best meals and now you can enjoy the same benefits at home! 1. Food cooks faster on a Steelmade. We use super-thick 3/16" steel on all of our standard Flat Tops that is over 50% thicker than a Blackstone Griddle and nearly 4x thicker than typical pans or skillets. This larger thermal mass puts more heat into the food in less time for better sears and quicker cooking. 2. Food tastes better on a Steelmade. The reviews are in and customers agree: food just tastes better on a Flat Top. The most important part of the flavor comes from the unique seasoning layer that builds up on the Flat Top with use. Not only does this create a naturally non-stick cooking surface it also adds to the flavor of any food. The more you use it, the better it gets! The unique design of the front lip also allows for important airflow that will keep food from getting soggy while cooking - something that can't be duplicated in pans and skillets. 3. Two Minute Cleanup. The Flat Top is simply the easiest piece of cookware to clean - period. Right after you're done cooking you just pour a cup of water on the Flat Top and it steam cleans the surface in seconds with no soap or scrubbing required. Even the biggest meals can be cleaned up in under 2 minutes! Save Money By Cooking At Home! The average American dines out 5.9 times per week and according to BLS data, the average household spends about $3,500 on eating out every year, or just shy of $300 per month. That means, in less than 30 days of cooking at home, your Steelmade Flat Top will have paid for itself - and then some! Compatibility The Steelmade Flat Top is compatible with standard 30" gas ranges with a minimum 19" of cooking area depth. Some models of stoves with plastic control panels may require a Heat Shield - click here to learn more. Flat Top Dimensions This product is not compatible with glass ceramic stoves - we have different kits available for those here. The drip tray sits underneath the Flat Top and requires just 1/2" of clearance below the top of the range heating elements on electric coil stoves. Not sure what kind of stove you have? Click here to learn more! On gas ranges with removable grills, there are two options for positioning the drip tray. First, you can leave the center grate installed and simply place the drip tray underneath as shown in the photo below. To keep your grate clean you can prevent drippings from touching the grate by putting a little piece of tin foil around the small part of the grate that sits directly underneath the drain holes. Alternatively, you can remove the center section of grate entirely. Questions about whether the Flat Top works with your stove? Contact us today!
