Fitted Jacket c. 1780-1790, Size 20

A woman’s jacket requires roughly 2-3 yards of fabric in a cotton print or died linen. None of the original jackets are made of died linen & some are made of silk which the pattern doesn’t suggest. Add a quarter yard if you plan to add the optional trimming. To line the jacket about the same amount of fine unbleached linen is needed. Notions required include a spool of 60/2 linen thread to match the outside fabric, 1 yard of boning for center front &/or 1 1/4 yard for the back depending on the style. View A & D need 1, 1/2″ button mold whereas view B needs 6, 1/2″ button molds to cover. View E requires 4, 1″ button molds to cover. View E also requires 2 sets of hooks & eyes, one set for each cuff. You will also need hooks & eyes for the center front or, optionally, 1 yard of  hooks & eyes tape.
