First Sweater Workshop

My First Sweater Workshop: Join this workshop series designed for knitters who are ready to create their first sweater. Whether you just learned to knit, or have been knitting for years, this class is for you. As a group we will work through all the steps of knitting a raglan sweater, using the Step by Step Sweater pattern by Florence Miller. Alyssa will answer any questions and help you problem solve as you move through the pattern. Knitting in a group can provide great encouragement and excitement as you see other projects come to life.  Homework for this class will include looking over the pattern & choosing yarn before the first class, as well as working on your sweater at home between sessions. The expectation is not that the sweater will be completed by the last session, but that all participants will have the tools they need to finish in their own time.  Dates: Tuesdays 4/8, 4/15, 4/29 and 5/13 (this is a FOUR PART workshop!) 6-8p Location: Connected Stitches Yarn & Fiber Shop (10 W Main St Dryden, NY 13053) Teacher: Alyssa Welty Alyssa Welty is a developing fiber artist who is enamored by hand crafts, sustainable making and building community through art. She is passionate about leaning into vulnerability through artistic expression, and embracing the imperfection in making. Allowing yourself to create without critique is a healing process and is infectious. Alyssa spins, dyes, knits, and sometimes dabbles in weaving and embroidery. She sources her fiber from U.S. based fiber farms, and often hand processes her fleeces. She loves being involved in every part of the process.  Cost: $80 Max Number of Participants: 6 Skill Level: Beginner This class is for adults ages 18+. We find kids do better in a one-on-one learning environment where they can have the focus and attention needed to guide them through a new skill.
