First Contact Quilt Pattern

First Contact quilt pattern turns four little Martians into a playful crib quilt full of color, character, and outer-space charm. This intermediate alien quilt pattern finishes at 40" x 50" and is traditionally pieced, using mostly background fabric with bright scraps for the Martian bodies, arms, legs, eyes, teeth, rope, sign, and beam. Small details— including several 1" x 1" pieces for the eyes and teeth—give each alien its expressive personality while adding a fun challenge for quilters ready to sharpen their precision piecing. Optional hand embroidery on the sign lets you add a sweet “Hi!” or your own message for a personalized finish. Perfect for nurseries, kids’ rooms, and makers who love quirky modern quilts, First Contact balances simple shapes with tiny, satisfying details. The pattern includes a crib quilt layout plus a bonus double-sized jumbo alien block that finishes at 18" x 18", ideal for a quicker quilt, pillow cover, wall hanging, or playful coordinating project. Because the design relies on scraps for the Martians and 1 3/4 yards of background fabric, it’s a wonderful way to spotlight bold little fabric cuts against a dramatic backdrop. With full-colour diagrams, cutting charts, and labels to help organize your pieces, this pattern makes a memorable project for intermediate quilters who are ready for a close encounter with creativity.
