Why 6mm is the sweet spot for comfort + control If you like a bit more support under knees, hips, and wrists, 6mm hits the comfort-stability balance most yogis love. Outdoor and fitness editors note that thicker mats cushion sensitive joints—a win for restorative, Hatha, or slower flows—while still being practical for everyday practice. Keep in mind that more cushion can make certain balances feel slightly softer, so it’s about choosing the feel you prefer. REISELF Materials & build quality The Fir uses PER—a popular, performance-minded material that’s free from latex and phthalates—so you can focus on your breath, not common allergens. The blue-striped Fir artwork is digitally printed with UV-cure inks for rich color that holds up to frequent use. The mat’s anti-tear construction and non-slip texture are made for daily roll-and-flow reliability. Yune Yoga Exploring different feels? Traction you can trust From standing sequences to core work, the Fir’s textured surface supports steady footing and smooth transitions on dry hands and feet. If you sweat heavily or love heated classes, layer a full-length Yoga Towel to boost grip and keep your mat fresher between deep cleans (a towel acts as a washable barrier and can extend mat life). REI Care & cleaning (simple routine) Daily upkeep is easy: wipe with mild soap and water and let it air-dry flat away from direct sun. That’s it. For periodic deeper refreshes, REI’s step-by-step guide recommends a gentle soak + light scrub + rinse + full air-dry; they also include a handy DIY spray formula if you prefer a quick spritz-and-wipe between classes.
