Pressed from carefully selected Mediterranean olives and packed by SALOV S.p.A. in Massarosa, Lucca, Italy, this is the authentic extra virgin experience: bold, fruity, peppery, and rich with the natural character of the olive. Only the best belongs in this bottle. Extra Virgin Olive Oil Cold Pressed to Perfection Since 1867 Extra virgin is the highest grade of olive oil. It is produced exclusively by cold pressing — no heat, no chemicals, no refining. The olives are pressed within hours of harvest to capture the full spectrum of flavor, aroma, and natural polyphenols at their peak. Filippo Berio has been perfecting this process for over 150 years from their home in Lucca, Tuscany. The result is an oil with a rich, fruity aroma, a smooth body, and a characteristic peppery finish that signals high polyphenol content. It is cholesterol free and a natural source of monounsaturated fats — the heart-healthy fats that have made Mediterranean olive oil a cornerstone of healthy eating worldwide. Use it as a finishing oil over pasta, grilled vegetables, bruschetta, and salads. Drizzle it over soups and stews just before serving. Use it for dipping with crusty bread. Build vinaigrettes and dressings with it as the base. Wherever bold, authentic olive flavor is the goal, Filippo Berio Extra Virgin delivers. Frequently Asked Questions What makes Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil different from pure or light olive oil? Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the highest grade of olive oil — cold pressed, unrefined, and produced without heat or chemicals. It retains the full natural flavor, aroma, and polyphenols of the olive. Pure and light olive oils are refined, resulting in a milder flavor and higher smoke point. Extra virgin is best for finishing dishes, dressings, and dipping where bold olive flavor is desired. Can I cook with Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil or is it only for finishing? Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be used for light to medium heat cooking including sautéing, roasting at moderate temperatures, and pan cooking. Its smoke point is lower than refined olive oils, so it is not ideal for deep frying or very high-heat applications. It excels as a finishing oil — drizzled over pasta, grilled vegetables, soups, and salads — where its bold flavor and aroma can be fully appreciated. How should I store the 3L Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil to maintain freshness? Store Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong odors. Avoid storing near the stove or in warm pantries. Do not refrigerate — cold temperatures can cause the oil to solidify and affect clarity, though this does not harm quality. Once opened, use within 12–18 months. The 3L bulk size is best suited for kitchens that use extra virgin olive oil regularly to ensure freshness throughout its shelf life.
