Fenix in Flight

Luna, Latorre Moore Trade Paperback, 298 pages A magical Latinx road trip through Mexico where a teenage girl faces gods, ghosts, and family secrets to find out who she really is. The dead are never silent. Fénix has heard them her whole life. When seventeen-year-old Fénix discovers her late mother’s hidden journals and an unfinished bucket list, she uncovers a truth that shatters everything she thought she knew: her grandparents vanished decades ago in Mexico, and her mother spent her life searching for them. Now it’s Fénix’s turn. Her road trip quickly spirals into something otherworldly. Haunted by her mother’s loss, stalked by vengeful spirits, and tested by creatures from Mexican legend, Fénix must navigate a world where myth bleeds into reality and monsters step out of story and song. Each mile brings her closer to the truth—and to the darkness that has been following her since childhood. But the greatest battle isn’t against what lurks in the shadows. It’s with the grief, guilt, and secrets buried inside her. If Fénix can’t face her past, she may never find her family—or herself. Lyrical, fierce, and unflinching, Fénix in Flight is a spellbinding YA fantasy for fans of Zoraida Córdova’s Labyrinth Lost and Emily X.R. Pan’s The Astonishing Color of After—a story of ghosts and legends, heritage and heart, and the courage it takes to rise from the ashes.
