FBI Files: The Profiler

Before profiling could be trusted, it had to be proven.  In this revealing inside look at the FBI, retired agent Peter Klismet shares stories from his remarkable career during a time when profiling violent criminals was still new—and not always trusted. This book takes readers from small-town Iowa to major cities like Los Angeles and Chicago, following real cases involving everything from gambling rings to missing children and serial killers. Klismet's work helped shape how law enforcement builds criminal profiles today. With honesty, a dose of dry humor, and an eye for detail, he recounts what it was like to work undercover, chase fugitives, and train with legends of the Behavioral Science Unit. The book also highlights the challenges agents face, the unexpected turns in big investigations, and the human side of law enforcement rarely seen in the headlines. Originally published to international acclaim, FBI Files: The Profiler now returns in this updated edition—bringing new readers into the world of a job that once felt as rare as spotting a unicorn.
