Fauna Marin Power Phos

High-Capacity Phosphate & Silicate Removal Media Eliminate stubborn phosphate and silicate problems that fuel algae outbreaks and dull coral colors - this pre-washed, iron hydroxide-based media binds nutrients permanently so they can't leach back into your system. Take control of nuisance algae and restore vibrant coral coloration with Power Phos, Fauna Marin's professional-grade phosphate and silicate adsorption media. Unlike basic GFO products, this advanced iron hydroxide granulate creates an irreversible chemical bond with phosphates and silicates, ensuring pollutants stay locked away and can't re-enter your aquarium. Power Phos arrives pre-washed and ready to use, allowing you to maintain ultra-low nutrient levels that starve problematic algae while letting your corals express their natural, brilliant colors. The result is crystal-clear water, minimal algae growth, and the nutrient-poor environment that SPS and LPS corals thrive in. Key Benefits: Permanent nutrient binding - Phosphates and silicates stay locked and won't leach back Dual-action formula - Removes both phosphate (PO4) and silicate simultaneously Prevents algae outbreaks - Starves hair algae, cyano, and diatoms at the source Enhances coral coloration - Low-nutrient environment reveals true coral pigmentation Ready to use - Pre-washed media saves time and hassle Universal application - Effective in both saltwater and freshwater systems Dosage & Application: Initial Dose: Start with 100 ml Power Phos per 300 liters (80 gallons) of aquarium water After 5 days, increase to 150 ml per 300 liters if needed Maximum dose: 200 ml per 300 liters Best Practices: Monitor regularly - Test phosphate levels with Fauna Marin PO4 Test Kit Avoid over-use - Don't run Power Phos when phosphate levels are already at minimum Replace when exhausted - Swap for fresh media when PO4 levels begin rising again Optimal placement - Use in filter bag, between filter wool layers, or in fluidized bed reactor for maximum contact Important Notes: Minor warming of the media in water is normal Temporary red/brown water tint from fine particles is harmless and clears quickly Do not rinse or wash out the media before use Not recommended for systems intentionally maintaining higher nutrient levels (ULNS caution) Ideal For: Aquariums battling persistent algae problems Systems with high phosphate or silicate in source water SPS reef tanks requiring ultra-low nutrient levels New tank setup to prevent diatom blooms Recovering from nutrient spikes or overfeeding Pro Tip: Use Power Phos as part of a comprehensive nutrient management strategy alongside regular water changes, protein skimming, and controlled feeding for best long-term results.
