Fathom Deep Pour Epoxy Resin Kits

The Deep Pour Epoxy For Large Castings, Slab Pours, and Flower Preservation TotalBoat Fathom is simply the best and deepest deep pour resin kit for thick pour applications – pour single layers up to 3″ deep in prepared molds. Pour live edge slabs and river tables up to 2″ deep per layer. The thicker layer is possible because of the low amount of heat Fathom generates and the extremely slow cure time. But the beautiful results will be worth the wait! Especially with projects created using step pours, because each layer of epoxy will meld seamlessly to produce a final piece that’s completely clear, without visible lines or cloudiness. Extra long working time is ideal for large or complex epoxy pours Once you mix Fathom’s resin and hardener components, you have anywhere from 4-6 hours to pour the crystal-clear formula. This extended working time allows you to easily pour, embed objects, pop any trapped air bubbles, and make other adjustments as needed without the stress of racing against the clock. Ideal for art projects, preserving flowers and mementos, and woodworking projects where aesthetics and control over the process matter. The working time depends on the volume of mixed epoxy you’re using, as well as the temperature of the air in your workspace – the ideal application temperature range is 60-80°F. Use tints to change Fathom from clear to any color you want Fathom is crystal-clear right out of the bottle, with a minimal blue tint to prevent yellowing, but you can easily personalize this clear liquid with mica powder, alcohol ink pigments, universal tints, and opaque pigment dispersions. Just mix the resin and hardener first, then mix in your epoxy-safe colorants. Fathom Details Deep pour casting system formulated for large castings, river tables, live edge slabs, floral displays, and other art & woodworking projects This low-viscosity epoxy can be poured up to 3″ deep per single layer with improved bubble release for a smooth finish Extremely slow cure time allows thick pours up to three times deeper than traditional epoxy systems High-gloss, glass-like finish resists scratches and stains with rock-solid durability UV stabilizers and minimal blue tint resist yellowing and UV-related distortion Simple 2:1 ratio makes it easy to mix and apply Easy to tint with mica powder, alcohol inks, universal tints, and pigment paste dispersions Self-leveling formula releases bubbles easily Low VOC and low odor make it ideal for indoor or studio use Use on prepared wood, concrete, metal, and stone surfaces to make unique table, counter and bar tops Kit sizes: 1.5 Gallon Kit, 3 Gallon Kit, and 6 Gallon Kit PLEASE NOTE: Fathom is an advanced deep-pour epoxy resin system. Do not use in working temperatures above 80°F. Not compatible with 2:1 epoxy pumps. Step Pouring Fathom For best results when applying additional layers of Fathom after the first pour, it’s important to note the following: When your project involves pouring multiple layers of Fathom, it is extremely important to wait until the previous layer has cooled sufficiently, to prevent surface distortion, yellowing, or other negative effects of excessive heat while the epoxy is curing. Conservatively, the safest interval to wait is a minimum of 36 hours for Fathom to cure before applying more, regardless of pour depth and ambient temperature. For applications when it’s important to have the shortest interval for multiple pours, wait at least 24 hours, then use an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature at the center of the epoxy mass, where the highest temperature will be recorded. Wait until the previous layer has dropped below 85°F, and the previous epoxy pour has firmed up enough that it will not distort when liquid epoxy is poured on it. Always follow the maximum pour depth based on the volume of Fathom. Once all layers are complete, the epoxy resin will be fully cured in 5-7 days. Should I use TotalBoat ThickSet or Fathom epoxy for my project – what’s the difference? TotalBoat ThickSet and Fathom epoxies are both deep epoxies. But, if you are pouring deeper than an inch per layer, you want Fathom! ThickSet  Fathom Best Used For Smaller scale castings and pours; ideal when using less than 10 fl. oz. per pour Large epoxy projects and castings using 1/2 to 1 gallon of mixed resin Advantages Shorter de-mold time, shorter recoat time Deepest pour depth per layer, longer working time, fewer pours, easier mix ratio Max Pour Depth Per Layer 2″ for smaller castings using less than 16 oz. of epoxy; 1/2″ for river tables, slab pours, live edge tables 3″ for larger castings, and up to 2″ deep for river tables, slab pours, and live edge tables Working Time 30 minutes 4-6 hours Demold Time 24 hours 48-72+ hours Full Cure Time 3-5 days 5-10 days Mix Ratio by Volume 1:1 2:1 Not sure how much epoxy you need?
