Farpoint SSF-397 Solar Filter — 392–397 mm Telescope Tube

The Farpoint SSF-397 Solar Filter is designed for telescopes with 392–397 mm tube outer diameter. ISO 12312-2 certified solar film blocks 99.999% of harmful UV and IR radiation, delivering a sharp, natural-color white-light view of the Sun, sunspots, transits, and partial eclipses. SSF-397 is a specialty SKU at the upper end of the Farpoint SSF line, sized between grid points to catch large-aperture telescopes that fall outside the standard 5mm grid. Specifications Fits telescope tube OD: 392–397 mm (15.43–15.63″) Filter outer diameter (Mask OD): 401 mm (15.79″) Clear aperture (Mask ID): 280 mm (11.02″) Construction: Laser-cut ABS plastic mounting ring, ISO 12312-2 silver-coated polymer solar film, ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps Made in USA Field-Tested at 200 mphWe put the SSF mount to a brutal test — a 200 mph backpack leaf blower aimed directly at a mounted solar filter. The ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps don’t budge. → Watch the 200 mph leaf-blower test on YouTube Fits These Telescopes Celestron - CGE Pro 1400 EdgeHD Telescope Celestron - CGX-L 14" EdgeHD Telescope Celestron - CGX-L 14" SCT Telescope Celestron - EdgeHD 1400 (CGE Bar) Meade - 14" LX600 ACF OTA Meade - 14" LX850 ACF OTA Sky-Watcher - 14" Flextube SynScan GoTo Collapsible Dobsonian Telescope Sky-Watcher - 16" Flextube SynScan GoTo Collapsible Dobsonian Telescope Don’t see your scope? Unfiltered solar light causes instant, permanent eye damage. Inspect your filter for pinholes, scratches, or film separations before every use, and discard immediately if any damage is found. Confirm the ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps hold the filter firmly in place and cannot work loose before pointing at the Sun. Installation & CarePlace the filter over the front of your telescope, wrap the ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps around the tube, and press firmly to engage the adhesive. The filter should be firmly seated and cannot wobble or rotate when properly mounted. Always inspect the filter before each viewing session. Store flat in a clean, dry place when not in use. With proper care, the solar film maintains optical quality for many years of safe observation. Browse the full SSF Solar Filter collection.
