Farpoint SSF-239 Solar Filter — 8" SCT, Dob & Newtonian

The Farpoint SSF-239 Solar Filter is designed for telescopes with 234–239 mm tube outer diameter. ISO 12312-2 certified solar film blocks 99.999% of harmful UV and IR radiation, delivering a sharp, natural-color white-light view of the Sun, sunspots, transits, and partial eclipses. SSF-239 is a specialty SKU in the Farpoint SSF line, sized specifically for the dense 8″ cluster spanning all current and legacy Celestron 8″ Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (EdgeHD, NexStar SE/Evolution, Advanced VX, CPC) plus the GSO-made 8″ Dobsonian and Ritchey-Chrétien families (Apertura, Sky-Watcher, Zhumell, Celestron StarSense). Specifications Fits telescope tube OD: 234–239 mm (9.21–9.41″) Filter outer diameter (Mask OD): 243 mm (9.57″) Clear aperture (Mask ID): 193 mm (7.60″) Construction: Laser-cut ABS plastic mounting ring, ISO 12312-2 silver-coated polymer solar film, ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps Made in USA Field-Tested at 200 mphWe put the SSF mount to a brutal test — a 200 mph backpack leaf blower aimed directly at a mounted solar filter. The ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps don’t budge. → Watch the 200 mph leaf-blower test on YouTube Fits These Telescopes Apertura - 8 f/8 Ritchey-Chretien Carbon Fiber OTA Apertura - 8" Dobsonian Telescope Celestron - Advanced VX 8" EdgeHD Telescope Celestron - Advanced VX 8" Newtonian Telescope Celestron - Advanced VX 8" SCT Telescope Celestron - C8-XLT with CG-5 Bar Celestron - C8-XLT with CGE Bar Celestron - CGE Pro 800 EdgeHD Telescope Celestron - CGEM II 800 EdgeHD Telescope Celestron - CGEM II 800 SCT Telescope Celestron - CGX 800 SCT Telescope Celestron - CPC 800 GPS (XLT) Telescope Celestron - CPC Deluxe 800 HD Telescope Celestron - EdgeHD 800 CG-5 Bar Celestron - EdgeHD OTA 8" with CGE Bar Celestron - NexStar 8 SE with Dovetail Telescope Celestron - NexStar Evolution 8 Celestron - StarSense Explorer 8" Dobsonian Meade - 8" LX600 ACF OTA Meade - 8" LX850 ACF OTA Meade - 8" LX90 ACF OTA Sky-Watcher - 8" Classic Dobsonian Telescope Sky-Watcher - 8" Flextube Collapsible Dobsonian Telescope Zhumell - Z8 Deluxe Dobsonian Reflector Telescope Don’t see your scope? Use our Solar Filter Finder to confirm fit by telescope model or measured tube OD. Safe Solar ViewingNever look at the Sun through a telescope without a properly mounted, certified solar filter. Unfiltered solar light causes instant, permanent eye damage. Inspect your filter for pinholes, scratches, or film separations before every use, and discard immediately if any damage is found. Confirm the ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps hold the filter firmly in place and cannot work loose before pointing at the Sun. Installation & CarePlace the filter over the front of your telescope, wrap the ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps around the tube, and press firmly to engage the adhesive. The filter should be firmly seated and cannot wobble or rotate when properly mounted. Always inspect the filter before each viewing session. Store flat in a clean, dry place when not in use. With proper care, the solar film maintains optical quality for many years of safe observation. Browse the full SSF Solar Filter collection.
