That’s when the wax meets the jar’s edge. This will prevent wax from tunneling on future burns. To avoid soot and encourage proper burning, remember to trim your candle wick before each lighting. When ½” of wax remains, pour boiling water into the vessel and allow it to sit overnight. By morning, the wax will solidify and float to the top. Remove the wax, and wash with soap and warm water. Use upcycled vessels for votives or flowers.
