What are the most common causes of facial redness and why does my skin care routine work so well for them? The two most common causes of facial redness are, rosacea, facial seborrheic dermatitis. When you have rosacea and/or facial seborrheic dermatitis (facial dandruff), your pores have more Pityrosporum yeast germs in them. If you have rosacea then we know that your pores may also have an increased number of demodex mites. Everyone has some of these two 'germs' in their pores, but if you have rosacea and/or facial dandruff then your pores may be pretty crowded with these germs, which in turn contributes to facial redness and inflammation. Along with their contribution to facial redness, these germs can cause pimples. The Pityrosporum skin yeast can also cause skin flaking along the sides of your nose, chin and in your eyebrows. This flaking red facial skin is often mistaken as 'dry skin' but it's really part of the inflammation that's making your skin red. Controlling these germs helps your skin heal. My Calming Zinc Bar Soap contains a full 2% pyrithione zinc, an ingredient known to help cleanse away Pityrosporum yeast germs, and possibly even mites in your pores. My patients wash with it once or twice a day, and invariably their facial redness improves. There's less inflammation, fewer pimples and less flaky scale. Calming Zinc ™ is a natural and handmade olive oil soap base that is rich in naturally anti-inflammatory ingredients including oats, calendula and shea butter. It's also oil-free because the olive oil and shea butter added at the beginning of the soap making process are turned into soap and glycerin by the 'magic' of this process (called saponification). Calming Zinc Soap is the best yeast-fighting soap for people with facial skin redness from a combination of seborrhea, acne and oily skin. The Green Tea Antioxidant Skin Therapy helps to replenish your skin's antioxidant reserve, often depleted by inflammation and environmental stress. It is also rich in hyaluronic acid to hydrate and rebalance your skin's moisture content. You’ll notice how your skin feels instantly soothed after you apply it! I've depended on the combination of green tea and caffeine in this Green Tea Antioxidant Skin Therapy for years in my dermatology practice and for my own skin. It’s a hefty load of green tea polyphenol antioxidants. When mixed with caffeine these polyphenol antioxidants yield a nearly miraculous calming effect on facial inflammation. This quieting of your facial inflammation will allow your skin to heal and your redness to subside.
