Explore Scientific Sidara Plus 127 — 127mm Refractor Telescope with Alt-Az Mount

Large-aperture refractors deliver a combination of contrast and resolution that reflectors struggle to match — no central obstruction, no diffraction spikes, and views that snap into focus with a clarity that keeps observers coming back. The Explore Scientific Sidara Plus 127 puts 127mm of doublet refractor aperture on the Plus alt-az mount with SkyAssist navigation, creating a premium visual observing system that excels on the Moon, planets, and brighter deep-sky targets. At f/6.5, the 820mm focal length strikes a productive balance between magnification and field of view. Lunar observation is where a 127mm refractor truly shines — the contrast advantage of an unobstructed aperture reveals crater walls, rilles, and shadow detail with a sharpness that reflectors of the same aperture cannot match. Planetary work is equally rewarding: expect to resolve cloud belt structure on Jupiter, the Cassini Division in Saturn's rings, and surface markings on Mars during favorable oppositions. The Plus mount provides smooth slow-motion tracking across both axes with the stability needed to hold high-magnification views steady. Compared to the Nano and Essential tiers, the Plus mount is built for heavier optical tubes and delivers noticeably less vibration when nudging the scope to follow a target — a meaningful difference when observing at 150x or higher. SkyAssist smartphone integration adds guided navigation, letting you locate planets, double stars, and Messier objects through the companion app rather than manual star-hopping. Key Features 127mm doublet refractor at f/6.5 — unobstructed aperture for maximum contrast on planetary and lunar targets Plus alt-az mount with enhanced slow-motion controls — stable tracking designed for high-magnification viewing SkyAssist smartphone navigation guides you to celestial targets through the free companion app 45° erect-image diagonal for comfortable daytime terrestrial use Solar filter included for safe solar observation Two Plössl eyepieces (25mm and 10mm) provide 33x and 82x magnification Ideal For Lunar and planetary observers who value image contrast and sharpness above all else. The 127mm refractor delivers views of the Moon that consistently impress, and planetary detail that rewards patient observation at high magnification. Dual-purpose users will find the included diagonal and solar filter make this a capable daytime system as well — terrestrial viewing and solar observation are natural extensions of the optical quality. Observers upgrading from a smaller refractor will notice the 127mm aperture resolves targets that an 80mm or 90mm cannot — globular clusters begin to show individual stars, and planetary nebulae become more than featureless dots.
