EXP20AG Glass Line Fuse, Fast Blow, 20A, 6x30mm

XPARTCO EXP20AG Glass Line Fuse, Fast Blow, 20A The XPARTCO EXP20AG is an aftermarket replacement fast-blow glass line fuse rated 20A at 250V, used as the primary overcurrent protection component in microwaves and a range of other household appliances. A line fuse sits directly in the incoming power path: as long as current draw stays within its rating, it does nothing at all, but the instant a short circuit or an overcurrent condition pushes current past 20A, the thin wire element inside the fuse melts and opens the circuit — sacrificing itself to protect the more expensive components downstream, like a transformer, magnetron, or control board. A blown fuse is why an appliance can go from working normally to completely dead with no lights, no display, and no response to any button. This is a standard-dimension glass cartridge fuse measuring 6mm x 30mm, fast-blow (fast-acting) rated, so it opens quickly once its rating is exceeded rather than tolerating a brief surge the way a slow-blow fuse would. It is commonly used across GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Kenmore, and other brands' microwaves, and also turns up in HVAC control boards and various small appliances that use this same standard fuse size and rating. A fuse itself does not wear out from age the way a mechanical part does — if one has blown, it is a symptom of an overcurrent event somewhere else in the appliance, and it's worth understanding why before simply swapping in a new one. Quick Answer The XPARTCO EXP20AG Glass Line Fuse fixes microwaves and other appliances that have gone completely dead — no lights, no display, no response to any button. Fast-blow, 20A, 250V, standard glass cartridge, 6mm x 30mm. Commonly used across GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, and Kenmore microwaves and other appliances requiring this fuse size and rating. If a new fuse blows again right away, don't just keep replacing it — that almost always means there's an underlying short circuit that needs to be diagnosed first. Common Problems This Part Fixes Microwave completely dead — no display, no lights, no response to any button Appliance suddenly stopped working with no warning Microwave won't start even though the outlet has power HVAC control board or other appliance electronics unresponsive Appliance tripped off after a power surge or brownout Visible blown or darkened fuse when inspected against a light Continuity test shows an open circuit across the old fuse Cross Reference Information Part numbers can change over a product's lifecycle as manufacturers update designs or release new appliance models. For your convenience, we've included any known superseded, alternate, or cross-reference part numbers that match this item. Replaces Part Numbers This glass line fuse directly replaces the following OEM and cross-reference part numbers: EXP20AG, AGC20, GMA20, 20AG, 5304509451, AP6230606, PS12071294, 5304488359, AP5648907, PS5136235, 5304464087 Because this is a standard fuse size and rating rather than a brand-specific component, the exact OEM part number your appliance's manual references will vary. If your part number is not listed above, contact our support team before ordering and we will verify compatibility. Compatibility This fuse is compatible with select appliances from the following brands that use a standard 20A, 250V, fast-blow 6mm x 30mm glass cartridge fuse: GE and Hotpoint microwaves (select models) Frigidaire microwaves (select models) Whirlpool and Kenmore microwaves (select models) KitchenAid, Maytag, and Amana microwaves (select models) Select HVAC control boards and other electronics using this fuse size and rating Note — glass vs. ceramic body: This is the glass-body EXP20AG fuse. A visually similar ceramic-body fuse (commonly labeled EXP20A) is also widely sold at the same 20A/250V rating for many of the same appliances. Check which body material your appliance's original fuse used before ordering, and always match the amperage and voltage rating exactly — never substitute a higher-amperage fuse "to stop it from blowing," since that removes the very protection the fuse is designed to provide. Contact our support team with your model number if you're unsure which fuse your appliance needs. Never open a microwave's cabinet without first discharging the capacitor using an insulated screwdriver shorted across its terminals, and never touch the capacitor or its terminals directly. If you are not fully comfortable with this step, have a qualified appliance technician perform the fuse replacement instead. ⚠️ Unplug The Appliance Before Starting — Match Amperage And Voltage Exactly Disconnect power at the outlet or shut off the circuit breaker before beginning. Locate the fuse holder — on most microwaves this is accessible after removing the outer cabinet, often near the incoming power cord or the control board. Remove the old fuse from its clip or holder and inspect it: a blown fast-blow fuse often shows a visibly darkened or broken filament, or a scorched glass body. Test with a multimeter set to continuity if the fuse looks intact but you suspect it's still bad — a good fuse shows continuity end to end, a blown one shows none. Install the new EXP20AG fuse in the same holder, making sure the amperage and voltage rating match your appliance's original fuse exactly. Reassemble the cabinet, restore power, and test the appliance. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, insulated screwdriver (for microwave capacitor discharge), multimeter (recommended), work gloves. Frequently Asked Questions I replaced the fuse and it blew again right away. What's going on? A fuse doesn't fail on its own from age — it blows because something downstream drew more current than it should have. If the new fuse blows again immediately, that's a strong sign of an underlying short circuit or a failing component such as the transformer, magnetron, or a shorted capacitor. Continuing to replace the fuse without finding that root cause will just keep blowing new fuses, and in a microwave specifically, that diagnosis involves working near a high-voltage capacitor that should only be handled by someone comfortable discharging it safely, or by a qualified technician. Can I use a higher-amperage fuse if this one keeps blowing? No — this is one of the most important things to avoid with any fuse. The fuse's rating is chosen specifically to protect the wiring and components in the circuit it sits in. Installing a higher-amperage fuse "so it stops blowing" removes that protection and can allow a fault to overheat wiring or damage expensive components (or start a fire) instead of safely interrupting the circuit. Always replace a fuse with the same amperage and voltage rating as the original. How do I know if the fuse is actually blown? Visually, a blown fast-blow fuse often shows a broken or darkened filament inside the glass body, or scorching on the glass itself. If it looks fine but you still suspect it, the reliable way to check is with a multimeter set to continuity (with the appliance unplugged and the fuse removed from the circuit) — a good fuse reads continuity end to end, while a blown fuse reads open with no continuity at all. Is EXP20AG the same as EXP20A? They share the same 20A/250V rating, but EXP20AG refers to the glass-body version of this fuse while EXP20A commonly refers to a ceramic-body version sold for many of the same appliances. Check which body material your appliance's original fuse used, and if you're not sure, contact our support team with your model number for confirmation. Is this an OEM or aftermarket part? This is an aftermarket replacement part built to OEM-equivalent quality standards. It is not a genuine brand-specific OEM part, but is manufactured to the same standard 20A, 250V, fast-blow glass cartridge dimensions and rating used across the OEM fuses in compatible GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Amana appliances.
