What It Is and Why It Works The Hyper Series forged aluminum cover has its own diaphragm geometry, so it needs a release bearing sized for it rather than the OE-style bearing that rides a stamped plate. Exedy packages that bearing with a fresh pilot bearing for the F20C/F22C crank and an alignment tool cut to the S2000 input, so the disc centers correctly when you torque the cover. Reusing a used release bearing on a new pressure plate is how you get a squeal in neutral and a bearing failure that takes the new cover with it. On a clutch this expensive, the bearing kit is cheap insurance.
