EVH Kill Switch

The EVH Kill Switch is finally here! This is the same kill switch on the EVH Wolfgang and 5150 Guitars. The same one Edward used. The EVH Kill Switch comes equipped with an internal LED and a built-in resistor, allowing you to connect any 9V battery directly to the switch without needing an additional external resistor. You can operate the switch with or without a 9V battery since it functions independently from the LED. This means that even if the battery runs out or becomes disconnected, the switch will still operate. When used with active pickups and/or a stereo output jack (not included), the EVH Kill Switch does not require the included on/off rocker switch. This kit includes: (1) 16mm Momentary Guitar Kill Switch – This is the same kill switch on the EVH Wolfgang and 5150 Guitars. (1) Quick-Connect wiring bundle that includes: (1) Black ground wire (1) White hot wire (1) 9V Battery Harness (1) On/Off Rocker Switch (1) Set of easy-to-follow wiring instructions (9V battery not included) EVH Kill Switch Specs: Type: Momentary Push Button Switch Operation Type: Normally Open (yes, this is correct for instrument kill switch operation. Included instructions show you how to wire it properly!) Housing Material: Plastic Mounting hole Size: 16mm (5/8”) Mounting Panel Thickness: 1mm-6mm Operation Pressure: about 5n Operation Stroke: about 3mm LED Rated Voltage:  12V LED Life: About 40,000 hours LED Power Draw: 15mA Contact Resistance: <50 mOhm Mechanical Life: 1,000,000 cycles Switch Rating: 3A/36VDC *A 16mm (5/8″) diameter hole is required for installation. The EVH Kill Switch—the exact same momentary switch Edward Van Halen used on his legendary Wolfgang and 5150 guitars—is now available as a standalone component for your custom build or modification. This kit delivers everything you need: the 16mm momentary switch, quick-connect wiring bundle (black ground, white hot, 9V battery harness), on/off rocker switch, and detailed wiring instructions. The built-in LED and integrated resistor mean you can connect any 9V battery directly without external components. The switch operates independently, so it functions with or without power—perfect for active pickups and stereo output configurations.
