Ethiopia Yirgacheffe (Yirg-z), Farm Direct

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe - Yirg-z Air-Roasted • Smallholder Produced • Hierloom  Grown in the legendary Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone, this washed heirloom coffee reflects the birthplace of Arabica and the long traditions of Ethiopian coffee cultivation. Sourced through the Agaro dry milling station and produced by smallholder farmers working at elevations between 1,700–2,200 meters, this lot showcases the clarity and complexity that make Yirgacheffe one of the world’s most recognized origins. Workers at the mill are paid well to sort the coffee seeds by hand. Keffa's Zero Defect Sorting, which takes 3 times longer than other coffees from the region, enhances its clarity in the cup and intensifies the aroma of black tea, the peach sweetness, and grapefruit acidity. Heirloom coffee varieties from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia are known for their citrus flavors. Sweet and refined, this bright Ethiopian coffee will please the perfectionist in all of us. Traditional washed processing including careful fermentation and raised-bed drying, brings forward a delicate, tea-like structure with vibrant aromatics.  Air-roasted in small batches at Passport Coffee, this coffee highlights expressive jasmine aromatics, lemon zest brightness, and soft peach and honey tones. The result is a clean, elegant cup with exceptional clarity and a smooth, balanced body ideal for pour-over, drip, or anyone who enjoys a brighter, more nuanced coffee experience.
