Ethiopian Opal Perigee Ring in Silver

Ethiopian opals are known for their vibrant and spectacular play-of-color. They produce a rainbow of hues which can change as the stone is viewed from different angles. This prismatic effect is often compared to the famous Australian opals, and it's what makes Ethiopian opals highly prized.  They are the birthstone for October and are thought to represent creativity, hope, balance and transformation! Ethiopian opal is made up of tiny, stacked, and regularly arranged spheres. As light enters the opal, these microspheres cause the light to interfere and diffract. The result is a stunning spectrum of colors that shimmers and changes in the light! Ethiopian opals are also hydroplane, meaning they will temporarily absorb water when submerged, creating a brief period of heightened transparency in the opal.  This ring is part of our Perigee Ring Collection. The perigee of an orbit is the point at which it's closest to the center, as in a celestial body orbiting Earth. Our perigee ring represents a sense of felling grounded, centered and connected. That might be a connection with self or connection with your partner, friend or family member. The perigee is the place where YOU are fully seen and experienced; you are known from every angle, in all your forms.
