Fellow Espresso Series 1 | Semi-Auto Home Espresso Machine

The Fellow Espresso Series 1 is the espresso machine most people have been waiting for — and didn't think existed at this price. Built around Fellow's patented Boosted Boiler architecture, the Series 1 delivers the kind of temperature stability and shot control you'd expect from machines costing two to three times as much. But it's also the machine that walks a beginner through their first cortado, step by step, with on-screen guidance and real-time feedback. It's not just a piece of equipment — it's a barista education that sits on your counter. Fellow spent more than a decade perfecting the kettle, the grinder, and the brewer before they touched espresso. The Series 1 is the result of that patience — and it shows in every detail, from the piano-key buttons to the temperature-sensing steam wand that stops at exactly the right moment. This is Fellow's first espresso machine. It won't be the last thing it teaches you. What makes the Series 1 different Boosted Boiler — ready in 45 seconds A three-element heating system — thermocoil, microboiler, and active group head heater — gets the Series 1 brew-ready in just 45 seconds from cold. The group head is independently heated so temperature stays consistent all the way to the puck, not just at the boiler. The result is extraction temperatures that hold steady shot to shot, automatically. Pressure profiling — built in, not bolted on Programmable pressure profiling has always existed. It's just always cost $3,000+. The Series 1 brings it to a home machine without compromise. Choose from prebuilt profiles — classic brew, lever-style, turbo shot — or build and save your own. Customize pressure, flow rate, and temperature across three extraction stages: pre-infusion, infusion, and ramp down. Guided recipes — for the first shot and the hundredth On-screen step-by-step recipes walk you through classic espresso drinks from start to finish. First-time espresso maker? The machine explains every step. Experienced home barista? Flip to manual mode and dial in every variable yourself. Shot feedback tells you when extraction was too fast or too slow — and what to adjust on the grind. Temperature-sensing steam wand The steam wand automatically stops at the right temperature for smooth, consistent microfoam — every time. No thermometer required, no guesswork, no scorched milk. Whether you're making lattes or flat whites, the wand handles the technical part so you can focus on the pour. Commercial-style 58mm group head The brass-core group head isn't a nod to professional machines — it is a professional machine component. The water dispersion block ensures consistent distribution across the puck, supporting even extraction and balanced flavor. Paired with the included 58mm bottomless portafilter, you're pulling shots on the same standard used in specialty cafes worldwide. App-connected — updates over time Connect via the Fellow app to create, edit, and share espresso profiles, receive automatic firmware updates, and access new features as they roll out. Yes — and it matters more than almost any other variable. For the Series 1, we recommend pairing it with a quality burr grinder capable of fine espresso grind settings. Fellow's own Ode Brew Grinder is designed for filter coffee; for espresso, look for a grinder with a stepless or fine-stepped adjustment in the espresso range. Is this machine good for beginners? Yes — and it's one of the few machines we'd genuinely recommend to a first-time espresso maker at this price point. The on-screen guided recipes walk you through every drink step by step, the steam wand auto-stops at the right temperature, and shot feedback tells you exactly what to adjust. You don't need to know what pre-infusion pressure means to pull a great shot on day one. Can experienced home baristas use this too? Absolutely. Flip to manual mode and you have full control over pressure, flow rate, and temperature across three extraction stages. The programmable pressure profiling alone is a feature most machines in this category don't offer at any price. The Series 1 grows with your skills. Are the water tank and internal components BPA and PFAS-free? Yes. All water-contact components are BPA and PFAS-free. What is Fellow Drops?
