Escape From Mexico is the nonfiction, first-person account of an Army enlisted man and his misadventures during training exercises in the Mojave Desert. The narrator and a buddy go to Mexico, get a little drunk, and are arrested for having a few joints in a pack of Marlboros left at a table by a couple of bar girls they met. They're thrown into jail, the buddy being soon released. While in prison, the narrator reads, visits with the Mexicans as best he can, falls sick, and finally escapes from the civilian hospital, aided by his father. The young man then returns to the Army and is court-martialed for having been AWOL. K-6
