Description Erythrulose (L-Erythrulose) is a natural, fermented, and water-soluble keto-sugar that is used in sunless tanning cosmetics. It is typically used in self-tanning formulas in conjunction with DHA to improve color, reduce streaking, and reduce skin dryness, thus enhancing and extending the user’s tan. Erythrulose induces a Maillard-like reaction with amino groups in the upper layers of the epidermis which produces a temporary browning effect with an appearance similar to a natural sun tan.
