Erigeron speciosus 'Azurfee' Azure Fairy, Fleabane

In June – August, saturated purple-blue flowers thickly fringed with fine petals cover this erect, clump-forming hybrid, their yellow center disks brightly punctuating the garden. It will happily grow in even crack or crevice, good-naturedly accommodating drought or clay, though sandy soil is ideal. This low-maintenance, exuberant plant is long-blooming, long-lived, and is loved by butterflies! It more than earns its keep.   Mature size: 2.5 feet T x 2 feet W In Greek eri means early and geron means old man in reference, respectively, to the early bloom time and downy plant appearance suggestive of a white beard. Minimum temperature: -20° F
