Erdapfel Coasters

Twelve coasters that protect your furniture from water rings, then come together Voltron style into a dodecahedral replica of the Erdapfel: the oldest surviving globe of the Earth, completed in 1492. Which means it features state of the art 1490 geographic knowledge. North America is missing. Several of the islands never existed. And if you can read the medieval German written across it, you'll learn that the Maniole Islands are so magnetic they suck the nails out of passing ships, that the people of the Andaman Islands have dog heads, and that the king of Ceylon owns a ruby a foot and a half long. Excellent under a glass of water. Less reliable for navigation.
