Leisure Time Enzyme | Natural Spa Treatment

Leisure Time Enzyme is a natural enzyme-based water treatment formulated specifically for spas and hot tubs. Active chemistry: a proprietary blend of natural enzymes engineered to break down the oils, lotions, sunscreens, body residues, and other non-living organic materials that build up in spa water and create that frustrating scum line at the waterline. Unlike chemical oxidizers or surfactant clarifiers, enzymes work biologically — digesting organic contaminants at the molecular level rather than masking, oxidizing, or filtering them. Every bather introduces roughly the same invisible cargo into the spa: body oils, sunscreen, lotion residue, hair products, perfume, sweat, and microscopic skin cells. Sanitizers (chlorine or bromine) kill bacteria but don't efficiently break down the oily, hydrocarbon-based residues. Shock products oxidize a portion of the organic load but leave behind the heavier oils. Over weeks of use, those residues accumulate at the waterline as a visible grey or brown scum band, embed into filter cartridges, and produce the "musty hot tub smell" that no amount of additional sanitizer seems to fix. Enzyme attacks the problem at its source. The natural enzyme blend chemically digests oils and organic compounds — converting them into smaller, simpler molecules that the filter and sanitizer can finally remove. Used weekly, Enzyme prevents scum lines from forming in the first place, extends the time between deep filter cleans, eliminates the underlying cause of musty odors, and reduces total chemical demand by handling organic load with biology instead of chlorine or shock. Pro Tip: Enzyme isn't a replacement for sanitizer or shock — it's a complement. Sanitizer (chlorine or bromine) handles the living threats: bacteria, viruses, algae. Shock handles acute oxidation: chloramines, organic spikes, post-party cleanup. Enzyme handles the slow, persistent residue load: the oils and lotions that build up between drain-and-refill cycles. Each product does what the others can't do well, and a spa using all three needs less of each individually than a spa relying on one alone. Brand Leisure Time®
