STEM Explorers: Environmental Science and Sustainability

The Environmental Science and Sustainability program engages students in exploring how renewable energy powers our world through hands-on experimentation and design challenges. Using tools such as the Microsoft FarmBeats for Students Kits, Snap Circuits Green Alternative Energy Kits, and Solar Transportation STEM PBL Unit, students investigate solar, wind, and mechanical energy systems. They design and test models such as solar vehicles and wind turbines, experimenting with variables such as solar panel angles, gear ratios, and blade configurations to maximize efficiency and output. With additional activities using the Solar Power STEM Boost Kit and the Wind Energy – Getting Started Package, students apply data-driven thinking to solve sustainability challenges. Throughout the program, they gain a deeper understanding of clean energy technologies and how innovation can lead to a more sustainable future.
