Empire Comfort Systems Flint Hill 24-Inch Ceramic Fiber Log Set

The Empire Comfort Systems Flint Hill log set ships as a complete 5-piece ceramic fiber package — logs, burner, and rock wool embers included — so what arrives at your door is everything you need to have a working hearth, not a parts-sourcing exercise. The 24-inch overall log length fits a firebox as compact as 30 inches wide at the front and 12 inches deep, which opens up installations that full-depth sets simply can't accommodate. At the center of the set is Empire's Vent-Free Contour Burner, dual-rated for use as either a vent-free gas heater or a vented decorative appliance. That flexibility matters at installation time: if your firebox is connected to a working flue, you can run it vented; if it isn't, the burner is fully certified for unvented operation at up to 34,000 BTU/hr — real, room-warming output, not decorative ambiance borrowed from a candle catalog. Flame control is manual and deliberate. A three-position knob — high, medium, low — lets you dial in output between 24,000 and 34,000 BTU/hr without hunting through menus or fiddling with a remote. Speaking of remotes: this VFDM model is not compatible with wall thermostats or remote controls, so if you prefer to set it and forget it from the sofa, a different model would suit you better. If you prefer the direct simplicity of a knob you actually turn, this is your set. Ignition is piezo — the same satisfying click-to-light mechanism that's been reliable in professional kitchens for decades. No battery compartment to dig into, no receiver to pair. The manual regulator is preset to 6.0 inches W.C. for natural gas, keeping setup straightforward. Ceramic fiber logs earn their place in premium hearth products because they hold and radiate heat effectively while maintaining the visual detail that makes a log set convincing. The Flint Hill's hand-painted ceramic fiber pieces are designed to work with the rock wool embers included in the box, giving the burner bed the layered, glowing appearance of a real wood fire rather than the flat look of an unfinished install. At 23 pounds, the complete set is manageable for a single installer. Compatible accessories — including the EK-1 Embers Kit, PE-20 Platinum Embers, and ELH-1 or ELH-2 fireplace hoods for vent-free applications — are available separately for those who want to refine the finished look or address specific installation requirements. Minimum firebox dimensions required: 30 inches wide at the front, 23 inches wide at the rear, 12 inches deep, 18 inches tall. Confirm your firebox measurements before ordering. 5-piece ceramic fiber log set with rock wool embers and contour burner — complete out of the box Dual-rated burner: installs as a vent-free gas heater or vented decorative appliance 24,000–34,000 BTU/hr output with three-position manual flame control (hi/med/lo) Piezo ignition — no batteries, no remote pairing, no receiver Fits fireboxes as shallow as 12 inches deep (minimum 30"W x 23"W rear x 12"D x 18"H) Natural gas, preset at 6.0" W.C. — manual regulator valve included Not compatible with wall thermostats or remote controls (VFDM series) Compatible with optional EK-1 Embers Kit, PE-20 Platinum Embers, ELH-1 and ELH-2 fireplace hoods 24-inch overall log length | 23 lbs. complete Product Type Flint Hill Log Set with Vent-Free Burner Size 24-inch Fuel Type Natural Gas Log Pieces 5 piece Log Material Ceramic Fiber Btu Output 24,000 - 34,000 BTU/HR Control Type Manual Ignition Type Piezo ignition Flame Height Control Manual variable with 3-position knob (hi-med-lo) Burner Type Vent-Free Contour Burner Burner Operation Dual rated vent-free/vented Minimum Firebox Depth 12 inches Overall Log Dimensions 24" (L) Minimum Firebox Dimensions 30" (W) front x 23" (W) rear x 12" (D) x 18" (H) Includes Logs, Burner, Glowing Embers (Rock wool) Remote Control Not included Valve Type Manual Regulator Pressure Setting 6.0" W.C.
