Emerald Studs in 18k White Gold

A variety of the mineral Beryl, Emerald is a cousin to Aquamarine. The vibrant and lush green of Emerald has captured hearts and imaginations since antiquity around the world, even mentioned in Rome’s Pliny the Elder’s Natural History from the first century. While there other varieties of green gemstone, Emerald is the one always associated with the most verdant of landscapes and the richest greens. From Egyptian pharaohs to Inca emperors to renowned celebrities, Emerald has enchanted the rich and famous for millennia. Cleopatra was known to have a passion for Emeralds and used it in her royal adornments. The Atahualpa Emerald, the largest stone in the Crown of the Andes, was believed to have been taken from the last Inca emperor, Atahualpa, by conquistador Francisco Pizzaro. Elizabeth Taylor’s favorite jewelry sets was composed of Bulgari Emeralds and Diamonds from her husband, Richard Burton, while filming Cleopatra. Emeralds typically contain inclusions that are visible to the unaided eye- because of this, many customers understand and accept the presence of inclusions in Emeralds. These inclusions are often described as looking garden-like, and are therefore called “jardin”, French for garden. The stunning green Emerald studs are made with 18k White Gold backing to highlight the vibrancy of these stones. These earrings have been hand-crafted by the world-renowned Groh+Ripp jewelers in Idar-Oberstein, Germany.
