Emerald Green Arborvitae

The Emerald Green Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd') is one of the most popular privacy trees due to its elegant, narrow pyramidal shape and vibrant year-round color. Unlike many other arborvitae varieties that turn bronze in the winter, this "Smaragd" cultivar (Danish for emerald) maintains its lush, bright green foliage even in freezing temperatures. It is characterized by dense, fan-like sprays of scale-like leaves that release a pleasant, cedar-like aroma when crushed. Because of its compact footprint and uniform columnar habit, it is an ideal choice for creating living walls, formal hedges, or vertical accents in smaller suburban yards where space is limited.   Botanical Name   Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd' Also Known As   Thuja Emerald Green | Smaragd Arborvitae | 翡翠绿侧柏   Specifications Plant Type   Native From   USDA Zone   Light Needs   Watering Needs   Leaves   Life Cycle   Avg.
