Emerald Crab (Mithraculus sculptus) | Reef-Safe Bubble Algae Cleanup Crab

Emerald Crab (Mithraculus sculptus) | Reef-Safe Bubble Algae Cleanup Crab The Emerald Crab (Mithraculus sculptus) is one of the most effective and popular members of a saltwater aquarium clean-up crew. Famous for helping control nuisance bubble algae (Valonia), these hardworking crabs spend their days grazing on algae, scavenging leftover food, and cleaning live rock and aquarium surfaces. Their vibrant green coloration and entertaining personality make them a favorite among reef hobbyists. When kept well-fed, Emerald Crabs are generally reef-safe and make an excellent addition to both beginner and advanced reef aquariums. Features Natural bubble algae (Valonia) control Grazes on nuisance algae and leftover food Reef-safe when properly fed Hardy and beginner-friendly Excellent addition to any clean-up crew Helps maintain a healthier reef ecosystem Care Information Scientific Name: Mithraculus sculptus Temperament: Peaceful Reef Safe: Yes (when adequately fed) Difficulty: Easy Diet: Omnivore (Algae, Seaweed, Pellets, Frozen Foods) Minimum Tank Size: 10 Gallons Water Parameters Temperature: 72–78°F Salinity: 1.023–1.026 pH: 8.1–8.4 Compatibility Emerald Crabs are compatible with most peaceful reef fish, corals, shrimp, and snails.
