Elements 002 Table

The Moooi Elements 002 by Jaime Hayon takes the idea of furniture inspired by nature and runs with it in this playful but sophisticated way. This Spanish designer looked at cacti and got fascinated by how they're basically modular sculptures - all these different shaped segments that somehow work together perfectly. So he created this round side table where the legs are all different thicknesses and shapes, just like the various parts of a cactus plant. Made from durable fiberglass in that gorgeous silk grey finish, it's one of those pieces that makes you do a double-take because it looks almost like modern art that happens to be functional. At about 20 inches across and 14 inches tall, it's the perfect size for tucking next to a chair or grouping with other pieces from the Elements collection. What makes the Elements 002 genuinely clever rather than just visually striking is how Hayon designed it to be part of something bigger if you want it to be. You can use it on its own as a coffee table or side table, but it's also designed to stack and combine with other pieces in the collection to create these sculptural arrangements. The fiberglass construction means it's light enough to move around easily but tough enough to handle daily use without showing wear. The asymmetric base looks unstable but is actually perfectly balanced, and that smooth finish cleans up easily when life happens. Whether you're using it to hold your coffee cup or as a statement piece that happens to be functional, it brings this organic, almost playful energy to whatever room it's in. Moooi has always been drawn to designers who see furniture as an opportunity to blur the lines between art and everyday objects, and Jaime Hayon represents exactly this kind of creative thinking. Born in Madrid with a background that includes everything from skateboard culture to industrial design, Hayon brings this unique perspective that combines humor with sophistication. Marcel Wanders and the Moooi team have built their reputation on supporting designers who challenge conventional ideas about what furniture should look like and do. The Elements collection perfectly embodies their philosophy of creating pieces that enhance daily life through genuine creativity rather than following predictable design formulas, ensuring each piece tells a story while serving real practical purposes.
