Eero Saarinen Tulip Table - Round Dining 67 Inch

Our Saarinen Tulip Tables are a masterful reproduction of the original Saarinen table. Absolute attention is paid to the workmanship of the stone and base creating a modern classic meant to last for years.  The Saarinen Tulip Table has become one of the most famous pieces in the Saarinen furniture collection. Created in 1957, the stunning Saarinen table envelopes the thought and theory behind one of the 20th century's master architects. Constructed of cast aluminum, the Saarinen table flows from top to bottom and from side to side. The Saarinen table shown here is a favorite as it can be used in a variety of spaces, but is most commonly used as a dining table. The clean visual style of Eero Saarinen became apparent as early as 1940 during the Organic Design in Home Furnishings Show at the Museum of Modern Art.  His collaboration with fellow designer Charles Eames led to the creation of their shapely “Conversation” series of seating.  This combination of molded wood and foam was striking for 1940.  Though the series never gained as much commercial success as his Pedestal Series, the shape and innovation introduced at this show had a lasting impact on future Saarinen furniture and on creation by future contemporary designers. This Saarinen table has a lacquered cast aluminum base in white or black and stands 28 1/4" in height. The Saarinen table base is treated with a clear protective finish to resist scratches, stains, and scuffs. Saarinen table stone tops are protected with a natural wax finish. Manufactured in Italy.
