Many opine that our smartphones have ruined our lives, fueling a surveillance state and ending healthy social interaction. But what if you could take that freedom back? What if you could... say, call in an airstrike on your own position? The EE-8 was used from WW2 to Vietnam with a wire line that gave it an operational range of seven miles. Two D-Cell batteries allow the phone to function, while the hand crank provides the power used to ring the phone at the other end. The device was popular in WW2 as troops found it more reliable than early radios. Ubiquitous, the phones and their wire were distributed all the way down to the platoon level, with two typically being issued. Operators were typically just standard infantrymen as the device is incredibly straightforward. PICTURES PROVIDED ARE ONLY EXAMPLES. CASES VARY, FUNCTIONALITY IS NOT GUARANTEED; INTENDED AS DISPLAY PIECES.
