EDC 100

The E.D.C. is the reel you’ll grab without thinking twice — built tough, priced right, and ready to fish every single day. With a cast aluminum frame, it’s lightweight and durable enough to handle daily abuse without breaking the bank. This is Bates’ most utilitarian reel yet — no frills, no fuss, just dependable performance on and off the water. But what really sets the E.D.C. apart is what’s under the hood: our all-new Digitally Assisted Brake (D.A.B.) system. This isn’t your average cast control. The E.D.C. uses a built-in digital chip and electromagnetic braking to automatically adjust the brake in real-time as you cast. It senses spool speed thousands of times per second and applies just the right amount of resistance at every stage — harder at high speeds to stop backlash, lighter at low speeds to give you extra distance. And it’s completely self-powered — no batteries, no charging, just smart braking when you need it. Whether you’re bombing casts at first light or sneaking in a few after work, the E.D.C. gives you reliable performance and smooth control, all day, every day.
