Bicolor Blenny - Maldives

Ecsenius bicolor The Bicolor Blenny is a small, colorful reef fish that adds personality and activity to any marine aquarium. Adults are easily recognized by their striking two-toned body, with a dark brown to black front half and a bright yellow to orange tail, creating a bold, eye-catching contrast. Like other blennies, they lack a swim bladder and spend much of their time perched on rocks or darting between crevices, so a tank with plenty of rockwork, ledges, and hiding spots is essential. Bicolor Blennies typically reach about 4 inches (10 cm) and are suitable for aquariums of 30 gallons or larger. They are generally peaceful but may defend their perch from other blennies. A tight-fitting lid is recommended, as they are known to jump. In the wild, this species is found across shallow coral reefs and rocky areas of the Indo-Pacific. Omnivorous by nature, Bicolor Blennies thrive on a varied diet that includes algae-based foods, spirulina pellets, and frozen items like mysis or brine shrimp. Feeding twice daily helps maintain their vibrant coloration and overall health. Considered reef-safe, they do not harm corals or invertebrates and their natural grazing helps control algae growth, making them both a beautiful and functional addition to the aquarium.
