Echinacea purpurea Purple Coneflower

Echinacea purpurea, also known as Purple Coneflower, has slightly drooping lavender-pink petals surrounding prickly orange cones. Its long stems are often branched with multiple blooms at once. The large blooms of fragrant perennial Purple Coneflower are loved for cutting, as well as for attracting butterflies, bees and songbirds. Echinacea purpurea is native to most of the central and southeastern U.S. This is still one of our favorite coneflowers! Echinacea purpurea prefers full sun to part sun and average to moist or dry soil. Plants tolerate poor soil, heat, wet, and clay soil. Purple Coneflower is great for borders, cutting gardens, meadows and naturalistic settings.
