Echeveria 'Trompette'

Description Echeveria 'Trompette' Care Guide FAQ/Common Issues   Echeveria 'Trompette' is a rare mutant succulent from the Echeveria genus, originally native to the mountainous regions of Mexico. This architectural rosette plant represents a unique genetic variation, offering collectors and beginner-friendly growers alike something new.   'Trompette' forms tight, symmetrical rosettes with thick, fleshy leaves that spiral outward from the center. The leaves have a trumpet-like shape that gives this echeveria succulent its name, creating dramatic geometric patterns. The foliage has a soft coloration that shifts with light exposure and seasons.   It produces bell-shaped flowers on tall stalks during spring and early summer, with coral-pink to orange blooms that contrast nicely against the rosette form. The plant tolerates dry air and adapts to various indoor and outdoor conditions.   Rotate 'Trompette' regularly for even rosette development. It can stay outdoors through autumn and into winter in many climates, though it needs protection from rain to prevent rot. You can leave it up to ten days without water. This succulent is safe for households with cats and dogs, and it rarely needs repotting due to its slow growth habit.   Echeveria 'Trompette' grows well in bright indirect light but also tolerates direct sun.   Water it deeply every 7-10 days during the growing season, reducing to every 2-3 weeks in winter.   'Trompette' does best in well-draining cactus mix with added perlite for optimal drainage.   It prefers temperatures between 65-80°F and tolerates brief frost down to 25°F.   'Trompette' is a slow-growing rosette succulent needing only diluted cactus fertilizer monthly during spring.   It is hardy in USDA zones 9-11 and tolerates brief frost to 25°F. It grows outdoors year-round in Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Nevada, southern Oregon, Alabama, Mississippi, and coastal North Carolina. It also flourishes in protected microclimates throughout southern Virginia, Arkansas, and parts of New Mexico where temperatures rarely dip below freezing. Q: How often should I water Echeveria 'Trompette'? A: Every 7-10 days during spring and summer. Let the soil dry completely between waterings, and cut back to every 2-3 weeks once temperatures drop in fall and winter. Q: Is it safe for pets? A: Echeveria 'Trompette' is completely non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs. Q: What light conditions does 'Trompette' need? A: It adapts to bright indirect light or direct sun. Rotate it every few weeks so the rosette develops evenly on all sides without leaning toward the light source. Q: How fast does this succulent grow? A: 'Trompette' grows slowly and rarely needs repotting. Expect the rosette to develop its full form over several years. Q: Can 'Trompette' survive outdoors year-round? A: Yes, in zones 9-11. It needs shelter from heavy rain and freezing temperatures in colder areas but can handle autumn and mild winters outdoors with proper protection. Q: How do I propagate this plant? A: Remove leaf cuttings or offsets from the base of 'Trompette'. Let the cuts callus for 24-48 hours, then place them in dry cactus soil until roots develop.
