The Eastman E10SS/v slope-shouldered dreadnought starts with a solid Adirondack spruce top over solid mahogany back and sides—a proven combination that offers articulate highs with pronounced lows and balanced mids. An easy-playing mahogany neck with dark rosewood fretboard is set into the ivoroid-bound body. Already, it's a classic. Then comes the hand-applied antique varnish finish. The result of this traditional French polish technique is a rich-looking production-model guitar that receives nearly as much personal attention as some boutique builders’ instruments. And the sound is comparable to instruments costing more than twice as much. This guitar weighs 4lbs 6oz.
