Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski

88 mm All-Round Women's Touring Ski Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski The Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski is a full-season touring ski that runs down to 151 cm, which puts a full side-wall construction within reach of lighter and shorter skiers. The poplar-paulownia core blends two light hardwoods so the ski settles on firm snow without gaining mass, and an 88 mm waist covers a frozen skin track and soft afternoon snow without asking the skier to choose. At 1,110 g per ski (158 cm) through 1,250 g per ski (174 cm), the W Radical 88 Ski is built for days where the climb and the descent both count. Expert Review Specs and length guidance reviewed by CCBB ski staff. Is This the Right Ski for You? Best For Women wanting one touring ski for the season, in a run that starts at 151 cm, with a full side-wall and an 88 mm waist at 1,110 g per ski (158 cm). Consider Another Ski If You want the lightest ski for long ascents, or you need a published weight for the 151 cm, which Dynafit does not list for this ski. Why We Like It The run starts at 151 cm, which is short for a ski with a full side-wall and gives lighter skiers a real construction rather than a softened-down one. A poplar-paulownia core is new this season, pairing poplar for damping with paulownia for low weight at 1,110 g per ski (158 cm). The full side-wall runs the length of the ski, putting edge pressure into the snow rather than into a cap shoulder. The matched Speedskin Radical 88 fits the 88 mm waist and tail shape without trimming. Best Uses Classic ski touring across a full season Long traverses and hut trips Days that start firm and finish soft Lighter and shorter skiers wanting a full side-wall ski Pairing with a pin-tech touring binding Ski Selection Advice The size run is 151, 158, 166, and 174 cm. We size all-round touring skis near a skier's alpine length, shorter for tight steep terrain and longer for open slopes, and the constant characteristics construction means a length change moves float and edge length without changing how the ski feels. Skiers stepping onto a 151 should expect a quick, manageable ski rather than a soft one, since the construction does not change with length. One honest gap on this ski: Dynafit publishes weight for the 158, 166, and 174 and does not publish a figure for the 151. Weight scales with length, so a 151 will come in under 1,110 g per ski, and we will not put a number on it until one goes on our scale. Match the binding to your boot sole norm rather than to the ski, and check any brake clears the 88 mm waist. 📏 Technical Specifications Manufacturer specs · Click to expand Shape and Weight Weight 1,110 g per ski (158 cm), 1,180 g per ski (166 cm), 1,250 g per ski (174 cm) Waist Width 88 mm Lengths 151, 158, 166, 174 cm Turn Radius Not published. Shop the Dynafit Radical 88 Ski W Radical 88 Ski vs. Dynafit Blacklight 88 Flex 70 Touring Ski Both carry an 88 mm waist. The Blacklight 88 Flex 70 uses a carbon layup to reach 990 g per ski (158 cm), 120 g per ski lighter, which shows on a long climb. The W Radical 88 Ski answers with a full side-wall and a wood core that hold an edge better when the snow is firm. Shop the Dynafit Blacklight 88 Flex 70 Touring Ski W Radical 88 Ski vs. Dynafit Ridge 95 Ski The Ridge 95 is the wider, descent-focused ski, and the question for a shorter skier is whether 95 mm underfoot is worth the extra swing weight on a climb. The W Radical 88 Ski stays narrower and starts at 151 cm, which the Ridge 95 does not. Shop the Dynafit Ridge 95 Ski Common Questions Who should buy the Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski? The Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski suits women who want a single touring ski for the season and want it in a shorter length than most full side-wall skis offer. At 1,110 g per ski (158 cm) with an 88 mm waist, it climbs well on long days and holds an edge on firm snow, and the run starting at 151 cm makes it workable for lighter skiers. What bindings work with the Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski? A ski carries no sole norm, so the pairing is set by your boot and binding. Match the binding to your boot sole norm, and check that any brake clears the 88 mm waist. Bring your boots when you book the mount so the pairing can be checked before drilling. How much does the 151 cm Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski weigh? Dynafit does not publish a weight for the 151 cm. Published figures cover 1,110 g per ski (158 cm), 1,180 g per ski (166 cm), and 1,250 g per ski (174 cm). Weight scales with length, so a 151 will sit under 1,110 g per ski, but we will not publish a figure we have not weighed. Ask and we will put a pair on the scale. What turn radius does the Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski have? Dynafit publishes no turn radius, so none is listed here. The ski uses a single radius scaled to each length, which keeps it consistent across the run but makes a single number true for one length only. Tip and tail dimensions are not published either. Waist width is 88 mm across the run. What length should I choose in the Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski? The run is 151, 158, 166, and 174 cm. We size all-round touring skis near a skier's alpine length, going shorter for tight steep terrain and longer for open slopes. Because the construction is the same at every length, a shorter ski is quicker and floats less rather than being softer. What skin fits the Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski? The Speedskin Radical 88 is cut for this ski and matches the 88 mm waist and tail shape, so it needs no trimming. A universal skin cut to width works as well, though it adds weight and will not follow the tail shape as neatly. Our Verdict The Dynafit W Radical 88 Ski earns its place as a one-ski season for women who want real construction in a shorter length. A new poplar-paulownia core and a full side-wall give the W Radical 88 Ski edge hold that a light carbon ski cannot match, and at 1,110 g per ski (158 cm) the climb stays efficient. A run starting at 151 cm is the standout, putting a full side-wall ski under lighter skiers who usually get a softened build instead. The one gap is a published weight for that 151, which Dynafit does not list.
