Dumont Master

Early one morning in August 2008, I received a phone call from a film producer looking for someone to scout Dumont Dunes for an upcoming commercial shoot.  After 3.5 hours of driving to the edge of Death Valley, I arrived at the dunes and was simply blown away by its expansive magnitude.  Standing over 450 feet tall, one-mile wide, and stretching for 4 miles, it's truly breathtaking and awe-inspiring.  A sign near the dunes states that the 7 billion cubic feet of sand is enough to build a road 40 feet wide by 6 inches high that would stretch around the earth at the equator nearly three times.  For the next three hours, I nervously hiked and shot the dunes alone, in complete and deafening silence, without any cell phone service and limited water in 120ºF heat.  It was eerie, intimidating, and more than a little scary - especially when the soles of my boots melted off - but once I finally found this perspective, I instantly knew it was the shot of the day, hence the title, Dumont Master.    LIMITED EDITION PRINTS Printed with archival pigment inks on professional Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper, these prints are signed with the edition number in the border below the image and include a certificate of authenticity.   LIMITED EDITION ALUMINUM PRINTS Aluminum prints are created by infusing archival pigment inks into specially coated sheets of aluminum and sealing the image with a high-gloss finish.  Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, images take on a magical luminescence with vivid colors and tremendous detail.  The scratch-resistant surface is waterproof and easy to clean, and these prints have the highest possible archival rating.  Depending on the size, aluminum prints include a 1/2" float mount or 3/4" inset aluminum frame attached to the back, pushing the print away from the wall so it appears to float, and making it easy to hang.  Aluminum prints are signed on the back with the edition number and include a certificate of authenticity. NOTE Signatures shown on images are for copyright protection only and do not appear on printed images.  Never hang prints in direct sunlight.
