DSSC Puppy Bite Pad

DSSC Puppy Bite Pad Dog Sport Supply Co. · DURACOT™ · Available in Multiple Colors · Foundational Bite & Grip Development The DSSC Puppy Bite Pad is a foundational training tool built to teach correct bite mechanics, build early grip strength, and redirect a puppy's natural urge to chew into structured, productive engagement. Sized and padded for young dogs just starting their bite work, it gives handlers a safe, low-intensity way to shape the habits that carry through every stage of training. Made from DURACOT™ and available in multiple colors. Teaches correct bite mechanics early: Introduces puppies to full, committed engagement instead of nipping or shallow mouthing, setting the foundation for correct grip habits later in training. Builds grip strength safely: Sized and padded for developing jaws and young dogs, giving puppies a productive way to build strength without the intensity of adult equipment. Redirects chewing instinct: Channels a puppy's natural chewing drive into structured bite work, turning an instinct that's often a nuisance into the start of real training. Available in DURACOT™, multiple colors: Dog Sport Supply Co.'s exclusive double-layer fabric, offered in a range of colors for kit matching or litter/dog rotation. Foundation for the training progression: The first step before intermediate bite pads and, eventually, adult protection equipment. Specs Type: Puppy bite pad / bite wedge / pillow Function: Bite mechanics, grip strength, chew redirection Material: DURACOT™, available in multiple colors Brand: Dog Sport Supply Co. Best for: Young puppies starting foundational bite work. Early prep for IGP/Schutzhund, French Ring, KNPV, PSA, and general working line development. Where This Fits in Your Training Progression DSSC Puppy Bite Pad (this item): Soft, lightweight equipment for the earliest stage of bite work, teaching mechanics and redirecting chew drive in young puppies. Intermediate bite pad: Heavier padding and a resilient bite bar for adolescent dogs, typically 12 to 18 months, building toward a full-mouth grip. Adult protection sleeves and trial equipment: Full hard equipment for dogs with an established grip, ready for advanced decoy work and trial-level evaluation. Quick tip: Keep early sessions short and end on a win. The goal at this stage isn't intensity, it's building a positive association with structured bite work. A puppy that finishes a session confident and engaged is ahead of one pushed too hard, too soon. Designed by Dog Sport Supply Co. for handlers building the next generation of working dogs, starting from day one. FAQs What age is the Puppy Bite Pad meant for? It's built for young puppies just starting bite and grip work, well before the 12 to 18 month range where dogs move up to intermediate equipment. Exact timing depends on the individual puppy's development and drive. How is this different from a regular chew toy? A chew toy has no training structure behind it. The Puppy Bite Pad is built to teach specific bite mechanics and grip habits from the start, so the puppy's natural chewing instinct gets channeled into correct engagement rather than random mouthing. When should I move my puppy up to the Intermediate Bite Pad? Once the puppy is consistently engaging the Puppy Bite Pad with confidence and a full grip, typically as they approach the 12 month mark. Base the move on the dog's development, not a fixed date. Does the color I choose affect performance? No. Color is a preference and kit-matching choice. All colors are the same DURACOT™ construction and perform identically. Is this safe for a puppy's developing teeth and jaw? Yes. It's sized and padded specifically for young, developing dogs, giving them a productive outlet for chewing and early bite work without the intensity of equipment built for older dogs.
